Luke started playing drums when he was 12 years old and played in his first band at the age of 14. In 1994 he moved to London, studying music at Thames Valley University. Joined a grunge group Addict and signed a record deal with V2 records in 1996. Addict released two records with minor localised recognition Stateside where they were more or less living at the time. For 4 years toured Europe and the US. They split in 2000. Played sessions for a year and in 2001 joined The Mescaleros.
